About me
Hey, I’m Dave Picc. I’ve spent my life obsessing over what fitness and life have to offer. This passion, combined with over 15,000 hours working with clients, is what has led me to create RESET.
Here, I help you build full-body physical strength using traditional barbell techniques while weaving in elements of psychology, and practical life-coaching

FAQ
What strength increases should I expect with RESET Barbell Strength Coaching?
A hallmark of RESET Barbell Strength Coaching that clients love, is that more weight is put on the bar every session for the first 3-6 months, depending on your individual ability and genetics. This is called the linear progression; expect to see the most gains during this time. In terms of noticeable increases in muscle size, decreases in body fat, or improvements in overall body composition, expect results in as little as 6 weeks. Most people should expect to see a 2-3x increase in total strength in 3-6 months
I’m just here to get strong, can we skip the psychology talk?
Yep. RESET is an all-you-can-eat personal development buffet where you get to choose the meal, and whether you want seconds or thirds. It’s up to you what topics you want to explore about your personal life, how often you want to discuss them, and how in-depth you want to go. The coaching element may or may not be for everyone, and that's fine. It's up to you! With or without it, you'll still get in the best shape of your life.
Can you tell me more about the life coaching element of RESET?
The life coaching element of RESET is dynamic and intuitive, and designed to enhance your workout experience. Imagine a workout where in between exercises, instead of just sitting and resting, you’re sitting and discussing the issues you’re having at work, the fight you’re having with your partner, how you keep procrastinating, or perhaps how you feel stuck and afraid that you’re not ever going to find your purpose. Now imagine that you’re not just venting, but identifying and exploring these experiences with an expert coach who can help you understand not only why you’re having them, but who also gives you the tools to help you create actual change
Is RESET life coaching a substitute for therapy?
No, in fact, traditional therapy is an excellent compliment to the sort of work we do, which is why we offer the FULL RESET which combines 90-minute Somatic Relational Experiencing (SRE) sessions in addition to the RESET Barbell Strength program. Many people have prior experience with therapy and are ready for the next step, or join RESET while already working with their own therapist. There’s no correct, or best way, and we believe that whatever feels right to you is the way to go
Where are you accepting clients?
All sessions are currently being held at “Work Train Fight” @ 636 Broadway 2nd Floor. NY, NY 10012 RESET Google Maps
What’s the process of becoming a client?
The first step is to reach out to me using the “contact” page to schedule an intro session together. These are 90-minute sessions in which you come to see the gym, meet me, and have a 1-on-1 lifting session. We’ll talk for about 30 minutes, and lift for about an hour. We’ll be able to discuss your goals, expectations, history of past exercise, availability, and any other questions that you may have. We usually have time to squat, perform one of the presses, and deadlift
How does semi-private coaching work?
Everyone starts their RESET journey with at least six one-on-one sessions. Once you learn the ropes, you’ll begin moving to semi-private sessions. The strength program that we’ve designed at RESET works best with a partner - it keeps costs down for you - the client, while maintaining a very high level of personal touch by how the program works - while one of you is lifting, one of you is resting. In addition, lifting heavy weights with a partner makes us tougher. There’s a synergistic effect when we combine our energies toward a common goal. Partner training just works better
I’m introverted and uncomfortable about the idea of lifting with strangers. Is this for me?
I work with a lot of young professionals who self-identify as socially awkward, autistic, introverted, or anti-social. Although we can’t change our genetic predispositions, we sure can build confidence and feel more comfortable with ourselves, our bodies, and in dealing with other people. At RESET, intentional exposure to working alongside others and navigating social interaction combined with coaching is a critical component to accomplishing this task and lies at the core of many personal transformations. I work hard to ensure group training is always a fit for everyone, and that everyone is comfortable (enough)
I’m over 50, should I lift with barbells?
Absolutely. Bone density and muscle size begin to decrease after your twenties and the only way to increase both is through strength training. Some professionals might advise you to lift lighter weights or to avoid movements such as the deadlift or squat, to lessen the risk of injury. However, depending on the situation, this information is either outdated or intended for those who don’t have access to a proper coach. Lifting heavy weights is the only way to stimulate bone growth in key areas that are most susceptible to entropy, such as the hips and lower back. I’ve had dozens of people well into their 60s, 70s, and 80s increase strength and mobility, and even reverse osteopenia without the use of medication by deadlifting and squatting
I’m a woman, is RESET Barbell Strength Coaching for me?
Of course! Don’t let pop-fitness trick you into thinking you need a certain type of training tailored to your xx chromosomes. Sure, some elements of the programming will be different, but by and large, women love the process of deadlifting 200 pounds. Ladies should be strong too!
